BREWING AN AEROPRESS
The Aeropress is an immersion-style method of brewing a consistent cup of coffee… from wherever you want! The Aeropress is perfect for camping, on the road brewing, and in the comfort of your own kitchen. There are many different brew methods out there. We prefer the inverted method, as it’s easier to perfect, and makes a consistent cup of coffee. Some people like to dilute their yield as it’s very concentrated, but we like a nice strong brew.
Things to keep in mind:
We recommend a 1:11 ratio.
We’re working with parameters – if your recipe is not within parameters, adjust your grind. If your recipe is within parameters; taste the shot. If it doesn’t taste ideal, diagnose defects and adjust accordingly. Need help with extraction? Refer to our extraction guide reference HERE.
Assemble your Aeropress “upside-down” upon scale, without filter. Turn on your kettle to 96°C (204°F). Once hot, warm up Aeropress by pouring hot water into funnel; discard water.
Measure out 18g of beans, grind and dose into Aeropress. Place Aeropress onto scale and tare.
Start the timer.
0:00-0:45 Begin pouring. Pour 100g of 96°C (204°F) of water. Stir with the paddle to wet all the grounds. Bloom.
0:45 – 0:59 – Pour to 100g and screw on filter to Aeropress.
1:00 – 1:45 – Wait.
1:45 – Slowly and steadily flip over and plunge coffee into server or directly into mug.
